An Impression That Stays

The Galaxy Buds4 series designed with careful consideration for a wide range of factors, including usability, fit and grip. The oblong metal blade was accentuated to create a stronger visual statement that allows the product to be instantly recognized as Galaxy Buds, even from a distance, when worn on the ear.
To achieve that, the Galaxy Buds4 series clearly distinguishes between what should be shown and what should be stripped away. Functional elements, such as sensors, which could otherwise appear visually complex, were minimized as much as possible, distilling the metal blade down to its essential elements. At the point where the blade begins, the oblong-shaped microphone is grouped and balanced to form a cohesive and simple design language.
The angled point of the Blade was also refined in detail so that it sits closer to the ear when worn, while making the presence of the metal Blade stand out more clearly. As a result, the Galaxy Buds4 series removes visual complexity and leaves behind an impression that is simple, yet unmistakably memorable.

A New Presence Defined by Metal

The Galaxy Buds4 series was designed with metal to create both a premium character and a strong visual presence, and the form and detailing were developed around that decision. Metal became more than a finish. It became a key language that defines the identity of Buds4.
Within a single metal piece, brushed texture and glossy finishing were applied together to maximize the materiality and presence that only metal can offer. Fine hairline detailing reveals the inherent texture of the material in a refined way, while subtle side polishing sharpens the silhouette even further. By fully drawing out the physical character of metal through finishing and detail, the design makes the Blade stand out more clearly when worn and delivers the premium, striking impression that defines Buds4.

More Than a Case

Beyond Function, It Becomes Part of the Identity

“We didn’t think of the cradle as a case that simply holds the earbuds. We saw it as a form that completes the user experience. From the moment the product is taken out to the moment it is placed back in, we wanted that flow to become one continuous experience.”

A Cradle Designed Around the Flow of the Hand

The cradle of the Galaxy Buds4 series was designed around the full flow of interaction, from picking up the earbud and holding it in the hand, to wearing it and settling it securely in the ear. By observing real user behavior, the cradle was designed to optimize the overall experience. As a result, both taking the earbud out and placing it in the ear, as well as the reverse motion of returning it to the cradle, can be completed like one continuous gesture without changing finger position.
To support that experience, the internal structure of the cradle was also refined. Space was secured so that the Blade area can be gripped naturally when picking up the earbuds, while the earbuds themselves were angled slightly when docked. This makes the product easier and more stable to pick up, while also making the flow from opening the cradle to closing it again feel much more intuitive.

Presence Completed Through Transparency

The cradle of the Galaxy Buds4 series goes beyond its functional role of storing and charging the product. It was designed so that even the moment the earbuds rest inside the cradle becomes part of the design itself, allowing the entire product to feel like one complete experience. To achieve that, the expressive quality of transparent material was actively explored.
The thickness of the side areas of the cover was carefully adjusted so that light could flow and refract naturally along the curved surface, creating a refined and premium impression. Seen through the transparent cover, the earbuds aligned side by side reveal the sculptural beauty of the product more clearly, while allowing the cradle itself to exist as a lifestyle object in everyday life. At the same time, users can easily check whether the earbuds are properly docked, reducing the small sense of uncertainty that often comes with carrying compact wearable devices.

Made to Feel Natural

Designed First for the Ear and the Fingertips

“Because this is a product worn so closely against the ear, a good-looking form alone was never enough. Wearing it had to feel more comfortable, and controlling it had to feel more intuitive. We refined every detail so that even small differences could be clearly felt in real use.”

A Fit That Feels Complete

Changes to both the earbuds and the cradle made the flow of taking the earbuds out, placing them in the ear, and settling them into position feel even more natural. The banded end form gently guides the user to press the earbud once more after placing it in the ear, helping it settle securely. By building even this small gesture into the form itself, the design improves comfort while also creating a cleaner visual relationship between the ear and the product.

Intuition at the Fingertips

The control experience was also refined as part of the new form. An engraved detail was applied to the swipe control area on the side of the Blade so that users can quickly locate the control point through touch alone. For a compact product, the ability to operate it without relying on vision becomes even more important. In this way, the Galaxy Buds4 series extends its design language beyond appearance, shaping an intuitive interaction that responds first at the fingertips.
