Samsung Electronics won a total of 55 awards including 4 Gold awards at the internationally renowned ‘iF Design Awards 2018 (International Forum Design Award 2018)’ held in Germany and became the company to win the most awards among all the contestants. The ‘iF Design Award’, first held in 1953 by the Germany-based International Forum Design, exhaustively evaluates the design, material appropriateness, innovation, and other design qualities for 7 different categories which include Product, Communication, Package, Concept, Service Design, Architecture, and Interior.
Samsung Electronics won 4 Gold awards in the Product category for this year. Among the winners are the ‘Premium Built-in Refrigerator BRR9000M’, a product that captures the unchanging values of design through its internal stainless steel and glass material, and the ‘Odyssey Slim PC, Odyssey Gaming Keyboard and Mouse’, which collectively provide a highly immersive gaming experience for PC and VR gamers alike through powerfully optimized performance and a deeply intuitive interface design. The ‘CHG 90 Gaming Monitor’, a revolutionary monitor that features an unprecedented ratio and size for a gaming monitor (32:9 ratio, 49 inch) and an ergonomic stand that offers powerful immersion and gaming experience, received the honor of another Gold award. Lastly, the ‘Galaxy Charging Companion’, which consists of the fast charge wireless charging convertible (EP-PG950) and the battery pack (EB-PG950) for Galaxy Series products, was the recipient of a Gold award for its convertible design that greatly enhanced convenience and portability.
In addition, 40 different Samsung Electronics products won awards in the Product category. Winners include the ‘Galaxy Note8’ for pursuing brand-new premium design for the Note, the ‘Galaxy S8 & S8+’ for providing comfort through harmonious and perfect balance, ‘The Frame’ television for naturally blending into various interior environments of users, the premium TV ‘Q9’ for creating elegant and stylish spaces while maintaining perfect harmony in any space, the ‘Built-in BRF8000M’ for realizing the premium state of a built-in refrigerator by implementing stainless steel for inside compartments to keep food more fresh and safe, and the ‘POWERstick PRO VS8000’ for providing comfortable cleaning experiences with its ergonomicform, meticulous designed grip, and versatile handle angles that follow the movements of its users.
In the Communication category, 8 communication designs took home an award, including the ‘Bixby Vision’ that assists the communication of users with low vision by providing product information, images, location specifications, and translations through visual information gathered by the camera, the ‘S Pen UX for Galaxy Note8’ that opens a whole new world of user experience with the pen, the ‘FlexWash™ +FlexDry™ UX’ that has a groundbreaking platform which allows two different wash cycles to run simultaneously and enables users to remotely and comfortably do laundry using mobile sync, and the ‘Family Hub 3.0 UX’ that makes life in the kitchen much easier through its voice recognition technology and efficient management of food supplies.
