Designing an Experience Rather than Observe
Instead of leveraging the metaverse to provide one-sided promotion of products and services, Samsung equips players to directly produce and sell customized products enriched with individual tastes. This gamified experience intends to inspire proactive participation among players by giving them the freedom to create their own Samsung products with unique resources.
Atompunk, a Futuristic City Filled with Hope
The overall design concept was inspired by Atompunk, a futuristic city envisioned in the 1950s. At the time, the prelude of the space age often led to optimism for the future and a progressive atmosphere for technology, and Atompunk reflected the ambience of this era by drawing out a future with bright and distinct colors. Space Tycoon embraces the hopeful outlook instilled in the Atompunk style, establishing a bright and positive look to the geometrical architecture and mysterious objects of the environment.
The Spatial Composition of Space Tycoon
Space Tycoon tells a story of mining resources on an unknown planet to manufacture and sell Samsung products. The first area people will encounter on the planet is the Samsung Station. Geometric structures and colorful neon signs are sprinkled throughout the area along with exotic plant-life that exudes a mysterious atmosphere. The Samsung Station leads to three Mining Zones where players can gather exotic resources. The station also houses Laboratory for building products and Shop for purchasing or upgrading items.

A Familiar yet Exotic Mining Zone
The Mining Zone consists of three zones, the Pink Desert, Green Forest, and Cosmic Cave, each themed as a desert, forest, and cave, respectively. Just as cooking a healthy meal requires fresh ingredients, creating ingenious
products requires special resources. However, when designing distinct environments to feature unique resources, an excessively unfamiliar environment might alienate people. To prevent this, the original shape and form of the
terrain for the desert, forest, and cave are maintained while the distinction was made in colors and textures to add a new dimension to familiarity. They are expressed with combinations of unfamiliar concepts such as pink
deserts, jade forests, cobalt caves, neon-lit mushrooms, and metallic cactuses.
Unlike the Pink Desert zone that is accessible by any player, the Green Forest and Cosmic Cave zones are only available to
players who have achieved a certain level. This is beneficial for high-level players who get to explore more diverse natural environments as they progress in the game.
High-Level Products Require Unique Resources
Space Tycoon is filled with rare resources that are normally hard to find on Earth. Players can take these materials to craft innovative Samsung products in a wide variety of styles. While resources available in each Mining Zone are different, anyone can mine Copper, Ruby, and Crystal in the Pink Desert. Rare resources such as Fantastic Emerald and Cosmic Cobalt can be found in the Green Forest and Cosmic Cave, where only high-level players have access. The Rainbow Stone, a resource that is required to create colored products, are found in all Mining Zones that anyone can add color to their products. However, to create the most coveted high-level products, you will need to mine rare resources like Emerald and Cobalt, which are only available in the Green Forest and Cosmic Cave.

The Laboratory, the Birthplace of New Items
Laboratory (or the Lab) is a place where products are manufactured with resources from the Mining Zone. Production can become much more efficient at the Lab if you have larger and more diverse groups of alien workers. Workers are responsible for transferring product materials to the production line. Janitors extinguish fires in case an accident occurs during production and the Cashier collects the in-game currency Star Coins when products are sold. Players can utilize these coins to further improve the efficiency of the Lab.
The Rarer the Color, the Higher the Value
Inserting a Rainbow Stone when crafting a product gives you a chance to add different colors to the product. 70% would turn out to be in Bespoke colors, 20% will be Gold, and 10% will be Platinum. Platinum products are most valuable in Space Tycoon due to their lowest probability. The Rainbow Stone creates excitement for the player in anticipation of which color they will get from crafting and gives people the satisfaction of completing their collection of products with different colors. You can, of course, craft products without Rainbow Stones, but the product will become colorless! Mining the Rainbow Stones diligently is highly recommended if you wish to create an impressive product collection expressed in a variety of colors.
Show Off Your Products to Your Heart’s Content
#YouMake Stage is an area at the center of Samsung Station where you can display up to twenty of your rare-colored products to other players. Each time a product is displayed, a number of Star Points are given depending on the item and color. You can gain various booster benefits such as speed boosts when you have more Star Points. The player with the most Star Points becomes the Manager of Samsung Station, and their ID and avatar are presented as a large hologram on the internal display. Station Managers can also enjoy the privilege of gifting free Rainbow Stones to other players. As the manager position refreshes every five minutes, anyone who creates the most rare-colored products by that time can earn the title. Go try it out!

Shall We Travel in Style?
Players can stylize their avatars or purchase transportation items at the Shop to move faster throughout Space Tycoon. You can pay Star Coins to purchase accessories such as Z Flip backpacks and astronaut wings, along with transportation items such as Z Flip scooters, JetBot hoverboards, and Sero-copters made with The Sero TV to navigate Space Tycoon with style. Samsung products we use in real life, such as the Galaxy Z Flip or The Sero TV, become accessories or vehicles in Space Tycoon. This is just one of the witty examples within Space Tycoon that takes small, creative ideas to create engaging experiences in the metaverse where there are no limitations.
The Lemonade, Our Alien Friends’ All-time Favorite Drink
Relax and appreciate the sound of wind passing through lemon trees at the Lemonade Greenhouse, where aliens grow lemons for their favorite drink. Lemonade acts as fuel for aliens to work faster when building products in the Lab. Consequently, a shortage of lemonade reduces production speed. This is why it is crucial to consistently gather lemons and resupply the Lab with lemonade to keep your manufacturing process as efficient as possible.
