One year after it was founded, Samsung Electronics manufactured its first vacuum tube TV. On January 1971, Samsung Electronics achieved the incredible feat of exporting 500 TV sets to Panama in Latina America.

South Korea’s First Mobile Phone, SH-100
In the year of the Seoul Olympics, Samsung Electronics announced its first mobile phone launched by their own technology. This product boldly entered the up-and-coming cellular mobile communication market and marked the dawn of mobile innovation.

The Note PC was developed at the same time similar products from advanced industries were being produced. Branded as the ‘Note Master,’ the Note PC was acknowledged in the U.S. market as on par with other products manufactured by the industry leader at the time.

World’s First MP3 Phone, SPH-M2500
The first mobile phone in the world to feature a MP3 player function. By combining flash memory and mobile phone technology, an innovation of unprecedented levels was born.

2002

The World’s First TFT-LCD Color Mobile Phone, SGH-T100
The first mobile phone to become a ten million seller within the first year of its launch. This phone, which resembles a pebble, was also known as the ‘Lee Kun-hee Phone’ after it was revealed that Chairman Lee was directly involved in the development process. By creating an unprecedentedly thin design, this phone garnered countless design awards both domestically and internationally. It was also equipped with the world’s first color LCD, which made the phone a sensational hit in Asia and Europe.

2003

The Introduction of Premium Mobile Phones, SGH-E700
This mobile phone was the first in the world to utilize an internal antenna. It proposed a brand-new look for the hinge and pursued a revolutionary premium design. This product went on to sell ten million units, receiving praise from one reporter from Norway as the ‘Mercedes-Benz of mobile phones’ and ‘the symbol of social status, wealth, and tradition.’

The Beginning of Differentiation and Innovation through Design, L7
An all-new T-shaped TV was introduced to the DLP projection TV market which was then predominated by box-shaped designs. This product was designed in a revolutionary T-shape form that created a visually slim exterior. It helped establish a unique product identity for Samsung Electronics in both exterior and structural design.

2005

The State-of-the-art V Line, Rome
This design once again broke the preconception of the box-shaped TV design. It differentiated itself through a V-shaped design on the bottom that was equipped with thin speakers along the V line. This design created a look that seemed like the TV was lightly floating in mid-air and enhanced the overall quality for function as well. It was the first single-model product that sold a million units and was the driving force behind achieving 1st place in market share for the North American market.

2006

The Pinnacle of TV Design, Bordeaux
A TV that illustrates the sensuous image of red wine held in a pristine wine glass. Using extra glossy materials, the beauty of form is expressed with an array of sentimental colors. Hidden speakers behind the lower bezel broke the pre-existing mold of front-facing speakers. This product transcended the rectangular TV design formula and reached the zenith of innovation.

Elegant Light of Innovation, Crystal Rose LCD TV
A TV that mystically changes its bezel colors based on the angle of light and viewpoint. A cutting-edge TOC (Transparent Opaque Color) technique that infused two different colors at once to adjust the thickness of transparency and opacity simultaneously was used. Its design aroused the sentiments of masterful handcraftsmanship, captivating many at the time of its release.

The World’s Slimmest LED TV, C9000
A TV with an ultra slim design that brought an end to the heated competition for ‘slimness’ among LCD panel TVs. By placing the circuit in the bottom stand, a 9mm super-compact design was created, which also boasted an exquisite quality through its use of real metal.

The Birth of the Galaxy, Galaxy S
Samsung Electronics’ first ever Android OS smartphone. Its exterior design embodied polished minimalism. Samsung Electronics’ unique TouchWiz UX was applied to secure openness and expandability, as well as establish a new UX identity.

A Masterpiece Laptop, Series 9
A premium laptop made with master craftsmanship. The ‘Arch Flow’ design concept is a new definition discovered by Samsung Electronics that focuses on the essence of slimness. The sides of the arch line, inspired by the elegant flow of light, convey a swiftness that goes beyond the simple notion of being slim. The black color of the body merges with the silver color of the sides to empower the serene feel of the exterior. It also incorporates the use of duralumin, an aluminum alloy used in high-tech planes, that makes the laptop lightweight and sturdy.

Organic Design, Galaxy S3
A smartphone that features a smooth and round design that resembles a pebble stone. A curvature that natural flows like a stream of water allows the phone to be held easily in your hand, and its size is compact enough for a snug fit in your palm. Organic and natural sensations were emphasized, such as expressing a soothing experience of a stroll through the woods in the form of sound and integrating a wavy effect in the interface. The concept of nature-like comfort for people connects the product, UX, and the naming scheme of Pebble Black and Marble White.

A Design as Smooth as a Gentle Breeze, Q9000
A smart air conditioner with a silhouette that illustrates the serene flow of wind. Using whirlwind fans applied with jet engine mechanisms and fan blades that control the airflow, this air conditioner creates spiral airflows that rotate 360 degrees to cool down your space more quickly and effectively. The soothing lighting that surrounds the fans adds a sentimental touch to your interior and the slim body design increases space efficiency.

A TV that features a curved screen derived from a circle that has a radius of 4,200mm. The distance from the eye and every part of the screen is equal to minimize distortion and assist comfortable immersion. A washing machine that can handle all laundry tasks from prewash to spin-drying in a single sitting. A deep and wide built-in sink helps you quickly prewash your load and an integrated waterjet system allows you to finish washing your laundry without having to move all your wet clothes. This was a perfect example of alleviating inconvenience through design.

TV that Blends with Everyday Life, Serif TV
A lifestyle TV that provides a new kind of sentimentality while staying faithful to the basics like an objet in everyday life. When seen from the side, the TV resembles the capitalized letter ‘I’ written in Serif font. With a single frame, color, and form, it blends well with its surroundings no matter where it’s placed in your home, and the patterned fabric covers the back side to give a clean impression from any angle. It was the shining result of a collaboration with world renown furniture designers the Bouroullec brothers.

A Companion for Everyday Life, Bespoke Jet Bot AI
Bespoke Jet Bot AI is a robotic vacuum cleaner that scans the layout of a home using a LiDAR sensor to create maps and learn the space, in order to clean in the best route. When operating, it maps the space to identify areas that need cleaning and uses the Clean Station to empty its dust bin unaided. In addition, it keeps a watchful eye over pets in the user’s absence and immediately alerts the user of any unusual behavior, performing functions beyond those of a regular vacuum cleaner.

Unbound by Time or Place, The Freestyle
The Freestyle is a cylindrical projector that can be moved and angled freely to project a screen anywhere desired. Through the auto-leveling function, it displays a distortion-free 16:9 screen and adjusts the focus to ensure a clear image. Using accessories, it can project beams on the floor or ceiling, or serve as an ambient mood lamp, making a wide variety of uses possible.
