Vitual Design
Virtual designers create structure and visuals for UX in 3D virtual environments, such as XR, AR, and metaverse. They also create 3D contents such as virtual assets or level designs based on experience scenarios from user insights.
Virtual designers work on Samsung Electronics’ AR (Augmented Reality), VR (Virtual Reality), and MR (Mixed Reality) capabilities, and work on standardizing the uncharted territory of 3D UX. Virtual design is a rising field in design where you can directly contribute to the advancement of technology and culture.

A Virtual Designer oversees the entire scope of designing a virtual space, including products, graphics, effects, sound, and the space itself. We work on a wide variety of UX and content in both 2D and 3D environments. Our designs cover a wide scope, from creating simple objects and 3D modeling for products to detailing an entire virtual space’s level designs, characters, and motions. Virtual designers are also involved in various AR and VR projects for various products and services, as well as standardizing a new field of 3D UX.
Virtual designers come from a wide range of expertise, such as 2D/3D visual or video design, UX or product design, crafts, and even software engineering. Creating a virtual ‘world’ means designers need to consider both real and imaginative elements when designing. Since the design work is about creating a unique world experience, most virtual designers work across many different fields to have a comprehensive perspective for design.
It will be the Samsung Space Tycoon that was launched on Roblox. I worked on building a view of the world for the game. A view of the world brings all the elements of the game, from its rules, map design, story, and characters, into one unified concept. My teammates and I had a lot of fun working on bringing these elements together to create a fun and immersive experience for our users.
It is important to have a broad and flexible perspective to express unhindered creativity in a boundless virtual world, and materialize ideas into meaningful and appealing designs in a 3D space. Even if you don’t have expert-level skills in modeling or animation, you can still become a virtual designer as long as you can design and propose valuable experiences. Of course, this under the assumption that you have a strong understanding of 3D environments and basic knowledge of 3D tools.
