UX Writing
The UX Writer inscribes UI text that appears on the screen of Samsung Electronics products, including mobile phones, TVs, and refrigerators. To provide consistent user experiences among various Samsung products, the writer finds a unique voice for Samsung, establishes situational tone & manners and style guides, and designs content according to the guide principles.
The writers collaborate with relevant departments, including designers, engineers, and PMs, to comprehend the differences and characteristics of apps and services. Expressions such as names, descriptions, and step-by-step movements of optimized functions are written for each situation. Grow as a professional UX writer by experiencing UX Writing of various products reflecting global standards and culture-specific aspects.

Jeehye KimUX Team, Mobile eXperience Business
As a UX writer for the Mobile Communications Business, I write texts for operating systems and apps used in Galaxy devices such as mobile phones, tablets, and watches. First, I make sure to fully understand the design intent, function, and context of the app or service. Then, I determine when, where, and what texts should appear by discussing them with an interaction designer.
I participated in building Samsung’s unique text persona that allows texts applied in multiple Samsung Electronics products to have a single, consistent voice. We identified the text style and term usage for each department to compare and analyze the brand image of our company and competitors. Through this process, we created a text persona that is suitable for the Samsung brand. We wrote specific guidelines for characters with this persona to apply voice and tone & manner to the product text.
UX Writers must observe the forest, not just the trees. Since one person oversees dozens of apps and features, we need to be able to maintain the uniqueness of each app as well as a consistent voice of the product. UX Writers must also understand UX functionality, along with being able to suggest and persuade when, where, and what texts should be delivered. If a UX Writer does not consider UX or usability when proofreading suggested phrases from designer or engineers, this person is not suitable for a UX Write role.
I prefer people who are not easily satisfied. They must have an insight to explore areas for continuous improvement and learn from not only their own texts, but also those of colleagues and competitors. Since UX and text can vary according to the time and situation, humble people who realize there are no right answers and freely exchange opinions with others will work happily.
