Jaemin LeeDesign Team, Digital Appliances Business
As a product designer of the Kitchen Design Group in the Digital Appliances Business, I have recently been designing cooking equipment after working on refrigerators. The product designer is fully involved in the entire process and manages all aspects of product design. Before launch, we collaborate with relevant divisions and repeat verification through images and mockups.
Most of my colleagues have majored in product design, along with those who had hands-on experience. Some have experience in furniture design, and some worked on visual design in other departments. Samsung Electronics has a job rotation system that gives anyone the opportunity to view products from multiple perspectives.
The BESPOKE refrigerator project. The influence of the BESPOKE series is growing at work, and it is rewarding due to the consumers’ high preference. Actively understanding the market and promptly presenting designs that fit consumer needs have led to good results.
Picasso once said, “The urge to destroy is also a creative urge.” We are setting new standards every time to provide better products to our consumers. I believe that Samsung Electronics designers have a will to achieve the best results rather than a reasonable compromise.
I believe the inspiration and insight of designers result from constant understanding of objects and their surroundings. When you always ask yourself ‘why?’, you will think deeply and develop the ability to look broadly.
