Samsung BESPOKE Jet Design Story

Unlike refrigerators and washing machines, the vacuum cleaner is a household appliance that is not usually fixed in place. It is a movable tool used to clean the house, typically stored in storage rooms and only brought out when needed. Vacuuming is also accompanied with the unpleasant and tedious process of emptying the dust bin, cleaning out the filter, and putting away the appliance back in its place.

Samsung Electronics designers closely examined this entire process of cleaning to create an integrated and holistic vacuum cleaning experience. The resulting Samsung BESPOKE Jet unravels new ways of everyday life with a design that permeates into our daily spaces.

Ever since wireless vacuums were first introduced to us, vacuum cleaners gradually moved on from the closet as its previous storage space to having its dedicated place in the living room. Vacuum cleaners stored within a user’s living space requires a design that exudes power while seamlessly blending into the environment. The Samsung BESPOKE Jet effortlessly becomes a part of users’ homes and quickly responds to their needs.

Vacuum cleaner designs of the past looked only at performance, neglecting the importance of harmonizing with its surrounding space. Users had to constantly devise ways to conceal the vacuum cleaner to prevent any disturbances to their interior designs. Through its meticulously polished design, the Samsung BESPOKE Jet easily blends in wherever it is placed. Its virtually floating design and a sturdy, round-shaped ‘footprint’ provide unwavering tension and stability. Smooth vertical patterns merge naturally with the surrounding furniture and the metal ring in the center boasts a sense of elegance. When inactive, the Samsung BESPOKE Jet becomes a pleasing object that complements the living room.

Experience

Emptying the dust bin after vacuuming inevitably spreads dust. Despite high quality filters, collected dust tend to scatter as soon as the bin is detached. This critical flaw in the last stage of cleaning used to make vacuum cleaning an unpleasant experience until Samsung Electronics designers provided an easy and simple solution with the Clean Station that gave new meaning to this last stage. The Samsung BESPOKE Jet went a step further to evolve this solution by integrating the Clean Station and charger stand into a single function and experience.

Integrated Experience

The Samsung BESPOKE Jet makes the last stage of cleaning more convenient than ever with the integrated Clean Station and stand holder. The dust bin can be emptied with a simple touch of a button even as the vacuum cleaner is mounted on the stand. This prevents dust from spreading when emptying the bin. By combining the previously separate processes of mounting, emptying, and charging, the Samsung BESPOKE Jet brings the last moments of cleaning together under a single and integrated experience.

Cleaning is only complete when dust is removed from every crevice and the floor is spotlessly mopped. However, handling both a mop and a duster when vacuuming can be a hassle. The Samsung BESPOKE Jet alleviates this concern through its accessory cradle. Users can easily move, organize, or replace tools needed for cleaning, including a Slim Action Brush, Spray Spinning Sweeper, and a rechargeable battery. The lightweight Slim Action Brush easily cleans narrow spaces, and the Spray Spinning Sweeper includes a built-in spray function for efficient cleaning.

The high visibility of guide contents, solutions to errors, and device status information helps users proficiently operate the appliance. The instructions kindly guide users to clean comfortably without experiencing incoherent error phrases or warning alerts.

Despite having good functionality, regular usage of a product can be difficult when a great deal of energy is required in its operation. A vacuum cleaner with heavy and rugged handles can strain user’s wrist and muscles, leading to less usage of the appliance itself. The Samsung BESPOKE Jet’s handle is designed with the user’s convenience as its main priority. A curve was applied on the upper component to improve grip sensitivity and the angle of the handle is optimized through numerous experiments. Furthermore, the weight of the handheld body has been lowered to reduce burden on the wrist. The dust-proof batteries are distributed on the top and bottom of the handheld body so that users can easily adjust the orientation of the vacuum cleaner as well.
